Canine Detection Teams
At Urban Canine Pest and Wildlife Solutions (UCPAWS), we use our nationally certified rodent detection canines—AKA “ratters”—to locate and abate rodent infestations. The use of ratting dogs is widely considered to be the most environmentally friendly, humane, and efficient method of exterminating rodents. Rodent Canines are used worldwide to help eliminate rodent infestations.
Detection and Abatement are NOT the same and need to be trained differently.
UCPAWS is one of the only companies in the United States training Rodent Abatement and Rodent Detection Dogs as separate canine careers, as we have found through experience it is important for choosing the right dog for the right job.

Canine Location & Detection Teams
The k9 discovery phase is the most critical part of combating an infestation. During this k9 inspection, our specially trained dogs focus on locating the highest concentration of scent, or scent pool. This information is invaluable for your pest control company, as it pinpoints the most effective areas for mass trapping. By accurately identifying these hotspots, we can significantly enhance the efficiency and success of your pest management efforts.

Canine and Ferret Rodent Control and Abatement Teams
Abatement-trained K9s are focused solely on locating invasive or pest species and dispatching their prey. These dogs have an extremely high prey drive and are specifically bred for this activity, making them highly effective in quickly and humanely dispatching their targets. This approach also reduces the amount of rodenticide needed to maintain control of the area, minimizing secondary exposure to family pets and other wildlife.
